If this is as good as it gets, then SHIT

I'm 40 today.

There is a balloon here with a huge 40 on it. I can barely believe it's actually for me. It seems such a huge number. Not to mention that I hardly even feel like an adult yet. And looking at all my mates that are or near 40, none of them seem like adults either.

Some old duck that when told it was my birthday today told me she wished she was 40 again. If it's all down hill from here and that I'll look back for ever more and pine for today, then, officially, SHIT.

So my life is half over. Unless I've just put the commentators curse on it all.

Anyway, enough of the mid life depression. I'm now off to drink and eat far more than I possibly could or should with the best bunch of people in the world.

On the upside, in this modern age it seems 30 is the new 21, and 50 is the new 40. (But yeah, anyone turning 40 deserves all the shit their friends can dish out!)
