It bothers me that I pay for a newspaper every day that has 2 whole sections that I never read. It's a pity I can't get the Dave Edition of the NZ Herald that was missing the sports and real estate sections.

  • I cancelled my herald subscription after 12 years and now get all the news I need from their website & stuff.co.nz. When they asked why I was cancelling after 12 years I replied "editorial content". They said, "What do you mean, editorial content?". I replied, "Your paper is crap." On the odd occasion I do buy a paper I am always underwhelmed. Even Sideswipt doesn;t do it for me anymore. Dave, it suprises me that you, our resident ubergeek, still uses the paper version.

  • The online version doesn't include many photo's. And if it does, they are invariably tiny, with no enlargement available. Sometimes a story just needs a photo to illustrate what the hell happened.

  • I have reduced my anti-depression medication since consuming less news. My moods can be dependant on things I read. I prefer good news. As an example like reading that George Bush has no friends. I just read an online artical that made me sad. It was all about D-70s and how good they were and how Canons are crap. Some news can make one person sad and the other happy. DEMONSTRATION OVER!

  • See me on the other hand, both of those bits of news make me happy. Welcome back Crewcut

  • BTW, is that your famous "dorking hen" on your cup?
    Rik - Thursday, 23 February, 2006 10:36
  • Nope, my Dorking Hen hangs on the wall for when I need it.

  • I too can't believe that you still read the print version of the paper. Even you old decrepid mother reads the digital version of the New Zealand Herald every day. The digital version is very good and the pictures are very clear.

  • I don't have a computer at the breakfast table yet, so what the hell do I do while I eat my cornies?
