Despite the weather forecast was pretty crappy and despite the fact it was nearly an hour's drive and despite the cost of gas and despite the fact there is 7kms of gravel road I had to drive my clean car over, we all took a trip out to Whatipu Regional Park. For you Americans wanting a laugh, Whatipu can be pronounced "What a poo".

It was particularly wet out there, very boggy and not real pleasant. So we only hung around for about 45 minutes and then headed back home. I'll definitely be organising a trip for the North Shore Photobloggers though as there is real potential for some good photos. It was not to be today though.

On the way back we stopped off at the Lower Nihotupu Dam to show the giblets where our water comes from. This TV had been thrown off the spillway bridge. It was so high I took this shot by standing as far away from the railing as I could while still reaching out to take the shot blind.

UPDATE:Oh, Happy Mothers Day Ma!
