The forecast is for rain until Wednesday. I'm not sure which Wednesday they mean though. It's been raining for the last 2 weeks too. This is what the rain radar looks like for Auckland right now. I'm thinking I'm going to have to be pretty darn inventive to get any photos for the next week.

The giblets (for you new regular visitors, we call our 2 kids "the giblets", it's a term of endearment) are both sick. Who wants to be near kids when they're sick? Then to top off my misery, Gabba (the wife, for you new folk) got Dirty Dancing from Blockbuster tonight (No, I don't know why either). Sarah is asking if any of the actors would still be alive because she thinks the movie is so old. "Look at that guy", she says as she points at Patrick, "he's got to be over 70 by now. You sure he's still alive?". Sheesh.

Not wanting to be reminded how old I am by my own kids, nor watch that film again, I buggered off down the park with the camera in the wind and the rain to see what I could see.

The Photo

This inventive enough for you? These 3 gum trees were blowing around in the wind. It took about 5 shots before I managed to get the whole exposure done without lots of water dropping on the lens and wrecking it.

  • Your giblets are more cygnets.....our three sons are more recently affectionaly known as sponge, slurpex and chamois because of the verocity at which they soak up funds....good photo, crappy weather also down the coast at Murrays Bay....just got to escape for a walk.

  • Great shot Dave. The trees look as though they are dancing to some sort of 'staccato' hymn.

  • Thansk for the comments on this photo. I'm pretty pleased with it. I think this is possibly the first one I've taken where I knew exactly what I wanted before I even left the house. The odd thing about it was once I had the photo back on the PC, I was a little disappointed as it really wasn't a surprise once I'd finished processing it. Nevertheless, I've learnt that it's good to go out in the wind and rain as there is still interesting photos to be had.
