Ever since I bought my car, 2 and a half years ago, the boot (trunk) has leaked. Despite the previous owner buying and fitting a brand new seal for it, it still leaks in the rare event it's out in the rain. This has seriously pissed me off for 2 and a half years.
Off and on over that time I have searched the internet to see if I could find what might be the problem with the seal. I was sure the seal was fitted incorrectly, but I couldn't really work out how it should be installed. All I found was lots of descriptions how it should work, but I was buggered if I could figure out the problem.
Then 2 days ago it finally hit me like a bolt from the blue. Parked right next to my car in our own garage is another car exactly the same as it. The same make, model and year. It's been parked there that whole time. All I had to do was open the boot (trunk) and have a look at another seal exactly the same to see how it was fitted correctly. Smacks head with incredulity.
To make matters worse, Gabba wandered by, spotted the problem immediately and fixed it in about 2 minutes.
The Photo
I took a trip to a parking building tonight to have a play. Then headed home to see what the result was on the computer. Realizing what I needed to change I jumped back in the car to have another crack at it. I spent about 5 minutes getting the camera set up and the shot composed only to have the lights go out. Bloody hell. So this is the best of the first trip.
