Gabba and I were in the car together, driving somewhere, I can't remember where, but the Giblets weren't with us which made a pleasant change. Damn kids are always hanging around us like they don't have their own lives to live. But that's another post.
She (Gabba) was telling me about a kid at school that did something, I don't know what, I was only half listening. But I started to listen a bit when she told me the kid's name (who will remain nameless for this story). It was definitely a rare name. Not weird, just not that common. She started to add all the obvious appendages to that name.
You know, like when someone says "nut" you add all the nut names, walnut, chestnut, chinnut etc. Or "jam", raspberry jam, strawberry jam, traffic jam and my favorite, paper jam.
Anyways, that bit of hilarity meant that we could move on to other kids at school and invent suffixes or prefixes to turn them into something else. It was good fun although when we got tired of it Gabba summed it up by making the comment that some parents had no idea when it came to naming their loin fruit. Why didn't they think ahead a little bit to make sure the name was ok.
Of course it was me that pointed out that we'd named our youngest kid Alice Cooper. I wonder what the hell all the other parents at school think about that choice?
The Photo
I've completely lost my photography mojo. I reckon this year I've taken less than 20 photos so far. And that includes the photos of the white board at the office. I haven't been able to find a way back from the depths of creative black hole land.
A good mate decided to lend a hand and got me out of bed at 5:00am this morning to head into Auckland city to see what we could see. We saw drunken bums and drugged out ladies of the night and people being arrested and tottie heading home from a good night out. The city stank and was scruffy and felt vaguely threatening.
It's some trees reflected in the pond at the Joseph Savage Memorial.
I dunno if I'm back yet, but today at least I got a photo and managed to write 399 words
