I'd sit on the fence if it didn't hurt my arse so much

Bloody hell. I spend 2 weeks unable to take a single photo because of various injuries and sicknesses. I've been looking at my favorite photoblogs again and I'm feeling inspired. It's a bright new moon out and I've scoped out a really great location. But it's cloudy and raining and will be so for the next week according to the forecast. Bugger.

Anyways, here is one of the things I was musing on in the shower this morning. There was another thing, but that was of a more visual nature. I showed some of the geeks in the office this morning, but they all asked me to stop...

There are so many things that I just cannot decide which side of the fence I should be on.

Take swearing on TV for example. I chuckle to myself about how prissy (some) American TV is to beep out any minor swear word. American Chopper on Discovery is hilarious. They are bike builders. Blue collar folk. All of them swear. Everyone knows what the hell they are saying despite it being beeped and in their context it's fine for them to be saying it.

On the other hand. I also applaud the Discovery Channel too for attempting to stop the moral decline of the planet. First it's swearing, then it's violence and sex and drugs on TV. And then it's acceptable for our kids to do one or all of those things. and then they'll be bringing spotty boys home. Go Discovery!

Whaling is another thing I'm undecided about. My life probably wouldn't change if the humpback whale were to disappear. The ocean would still look like the ocean. The beach would still be a great place to have a BBQ. For all I know the humpback is so tasty they just deserve to be eaten. Like lambs.

On the other hand, I'm quite happy to know Greenpeace is out there kicking whalers arses and trying to save whales and all the other swimming creatures of the sea. If they are doing it, then there is balance in the world. It means one part of the population isn't taking more than their share.

The Photo

I'm so scraping the bottom of the barrel here. It's a small part of the seriously cool swamp out at Whatipu from my second mission out there. I'll keep going out there till I figure out how to capture the mood I think. It'd be spooky at night under a full moon. Unfortunately, it'd also be a little too dangerous I think.

Oh yeah, if you see the humor in the title, keep it to yourself huh? Any comments about it will be deleted!

  • Animals are great objects to photograph, so that is at least one reason for maintaining biodiversity.
