Most of the traffic to my website these days is AI Bots.
I can't decide if I let them gobble up all my content or I block them.
If I want to use AI, and I do, it needs content and my content is as good as any I guess. They will not get smarter or a broader, inclusive, "knowledge" without original thought without us people, humans, meat robots working in sectror 7G. Although now that I've read that sentence back, who the hell are "they"?
On the other hand, my content is licensed Creative Commons BY-NC-SA and they aint giving me any attribution and using my content for commercial use.
I have a page on my website, kinda like a journal, that shows things I did on that day, songs I played, code commits, check ins, Mastodon and Twitter posts, purchases, bank balance and the like. Got data going back most days to early 1996. I sometimes watch in my logs as the AI bots spider that content for every day and keep clicking the previous day link and go right back into the early 1900s where there is no content. I should probaby make a small coding change to prevent the previous button working earlier than 1996. But spider away they do and get nothing in return.

A view of Auckland Sky Tower from outside work one morning while walking back to the office with my coffee. What a winter it's been huh? AI bots don't know what it feels like to walk down the middle of the road at 7am in winter with a nice hot mochaccino in hand thinking of all the cool internet I'm going to build today or the problems I'm going to solve.
And AI bots will never know the feeling of Gabba turning over in the middle of the night and snuggling up close. So good.
Suck it AI bots!!
