This is where we went, what we listened to, tweeted, coded, blogged and spent on this day
Driving home from work I remembered I had a very good quality CD player in storage that I haven't used for maybe 20 years, or more.
Just plugged it in, found a CD laying about. OMG! I had forgotten how good a CD sounds compared to the bollocks out of Spotify or my MP3 collection.
For too long I've been about the ease of use and the quantity and the LastFMness.
This weekend I'm gonna visit every Op Shop on the North Shore and get back my physical music collection
@spudooli@mastodon.nzWhich will be the 4th time I have purchased my music. Once on record, then on cassette, then CD.
From there I burned all the CDs to MP3 and binned them Then stole a bunch off Napster and Pirate Bay and mates.
Now back to CD and Records for me for a bit I think. But will play the Spotify track at the same time to get the Last FM data
@spudooli@mastodon.nzActually it's just occurred to me why I stopped using the CD player - a Marantz CD-52 Mk2 Special Edition, no less.
Our first born, as a very little kid, loaded the player with a slice of bread with raspberry jam on it. Every CD that came out of it for months after included a stripe of raspberry jam.
That little kid turns 28 this year.
Also probably explains why the CD drawer is very lethargic to open now and needs some help. Perhaps I should open it up and clean it.
@spudooli@mastodon.nzWell balls. I got to listen to 2 glorious CDs and then CD drawer failed to close.
Ripped the lid off hoping to just give it a clean after 25 years of not being used to find a cog that drives the CD drawer in bits.
CD player still plays properly, just have to push the drawer in and out by hand like a cave man.
