Late October, early November is when my grass looks as good as it's going to be for the next 11 months

Possibly thanks to the 16kg of fertiliser that has been tipped onto this bit of lawn over the last 4 weeks that is barely 5 metres square. And the daily mowing. And no one is allowed to walk on it. Still not hot yet to burn it all but warm enough for it to be growing well.
