We normally stop for a leg stretch in the city of Mangaweka on any trips between Wellington and Auckland.
I like standing there enjoying the very old buildings that appear to be mostly unchanged for 100 years or more.
But also slightly saddened that since 1980 when they realigned SH1 that we lost a whole lot of very windy road in the hills behind Mangaweka.
Pixelfed's location field inexplicably doesn't include Mangaweka. But that's where this photo is taken. The middle of the main street which is called, perhaps somewhat grandly, Broadway
