This is where we went, what we listened to, tweeted, coded, blogged and spent on this day
I'm coding a new expense claim system for work and it's bothering me that we have mileage rates. Kilometerage rates doesn't roll off the tongue the same way. I'm going to code kilometerage anyway, but it's making me grumpy on a Friday morning
@spudooli@mastodon.nzHere are the number plates of the first 3 cars I owned.
DG7195 was a 1969 Mk1 Ford Escort van, bought in Marton in the Rangitikei district for $1700 in 1985. It was 1100cc, then 1300cc and later 1600cc
JJ8 was a Ford Escort rally car, long retired, bought from someone in Belmont, Lower Hutt with a loan from my girlfriend at the time, now my wife of almost 34 years.
EE3930 was a pristine 1972 Ford Escort bought in 1990 with a very bad diff that ultimately become a merger of it and the 2 before it (registered as OW706) that had a very happy life on gravel roads around Te Ika-a-Māui in 93/94 until its throttle stuck open and it went off a very high bank and ended up in a paddock, and took 4 hours to recover it back to the road.
I miss them all as if they were my first born 3 babies

Gosh I can remember driving that van back to Wellington after I handed over the money from a loan I took from Westpac Trust in Johnsonville like it was yesterday. I picked up a Swedish hitchhiker on the southside of Foxton and drive him into Wellington to his backpackers because I just wanted to drive my first car so bad. The rear van doors squeaked so bad it was positively painful the whole way. I wonder where he is now. I hope he is happy.
