NIKON D70 - 1/10 sec, f3.8 at 24mm

OK, so the above photo isn't that great. No skill displayed at all in fact. But that wasn't the aim. I wanted to test some stop motion animation and this is all I came up with after 7 seconds of thought.



Ok, so the animation isn't that great either. But then I didn't want to spend 2 hours out in the field to come home and find that I'd cocked something up. So a test in the dining room was in order. The kids don't cost anything and I can still get them to do anything I want.

The Photo and the Animation

In summary, it's Sarah drawing a picture, Ali taking some interest, me spinning a banana and Alice inserting mandarins. It's 104 photos taken exactly 5 seconds apart. Then converted to a 49MB AVI at 5 frames a second. Finally uploaded to Google Video as they seem happy to pay for the bandwidth.

  • Hey that's very cool of Sarah! Have just text Gaba to remind her not to SHOUT in the birthday girls ear. And also reminded her to remind the Queen to send a telegram....or at the very least, an email....or who knows, maybe a text! And just a brief reminder to yourself - Sarah will expect nothing less than french platts when she has her hair tied up for netball tomorrow! I will be there to verify this : )
