I'm almost an expert in XFree86

NIKON D70 - 1/8000 sec, f4.5 at 62mm

I've spent hours battling X tonight. I've fiddled with XF86Config-4 and gdm-conf so much tonight I could almost be considered an expert in all things X. I've come to the conclusion that I cannot run 2 X sessions simultaneously. It has to be one session or another, but not both. I found some people that have patched the hell out of their kernel and XFree86, but they are all running RH or FC3, and I'm not up to those sorts of games. I give up. I'll just run one or the other and switch backwards and forwards as I need to.

The good news though is that I've got the Photo Frame page all sorted out. Now it loads nice small thumbnails and resizes the large images to suit.

And the LCD monitor turned up today and it looks like I'll be able to hack it's frame off and convert it to be more picture frame-ish without too much trouble.

Crappy photo tonight too, sorry. I couldn't figure out how to get a better shot of him. He was too tall and there was nothing close for me to stand on. And my brain is too tired now to spend any more time digging out a better capture. I can't recall who the hell he is though. Maybe Gov Grey. I could be wrong, I looked at dozens of statues on my wander in the city.

 • FC4 -- that's I'll say. Nice pics BTW. Makes mine looks like beer-soaked polaroids. Time for an upgrade.

 • FC4? are you freakin kidding me? I'm a definate Debian convert now. I actually get it. No more bloody RPMs and everything all over the place like a mad cow's shit. And no more compiling stuff on my own and wondering why the hell nothing ever works. apt-get -- that's all I'll say! And whadday mean your photo's don't look as good. I'm as envious as hell of this one.

 • I use apt-get on fedora daily! http://apt.freshrpms.net/ An rpm is no different to a deb, really. But... hey it's linux, so you're not doing half bad :)
